Happy Father’s Day Everyone! We Made Popcorn Balls to Celebrate!

Another Father’s Day has come and passed. My dad likes to laze around so that’s what we did for most of the day.  Then we got down to business for the dinner.  My sister made a cherry pie that contained brandy with brandy whip cream. Very tasty.  And everyone pitched in to make two double batches of popcorn balls. Popcorn Balls are usually a seasonal thing in our family but recently we’ve made them more often. They’re cinnamon-y delicious.

Here’s a photo of the golden second batch. First batch was purple.

      For ours we add 1/2 a teaspoon of cinnamon (theoretically you can add any flavor you want) and food coloring just before you mix the sugar with the popcorn. We also have plastic popcorn ball molds to make them nice and round. Be careful if you add the cinnamon because it burns my face (like a mild sunburn) whenever we make them but I seem to be the only one in my family it happens to.
