Manga Monday: Death of Tokyopop (in North America)

No manga highlight today because, while looking for news of D. N. Angel, I found that one of North America’s biggest manga publishers was/is closing down. That’s right, Tokyopop has shut down their North American branch and released all their manga licenses.  So half of the manga I’ve featured this year will not have any more official volume releases in the US. The one I was going to put up this week was license by Tokyopop too.  This is why you support the official releases.

There’s still Viz and a few other independent publishers out there that will hopefully pick up the manga pieces.  I just don’t want to go back to reading crap translations… no offense meant to the real good translators out there doing it for free.

Sadness.
